New BBC Web Site

Posted by workerthread on December 14, 2007

I just noticed that a beta version of the BBC web site re-design is up and running, and can be viewed here.

The current beta has got that Ajax-y Web 2.0 feel about it, with lots of personalisation and drag and drop features like iGoogle, Windows Live and PageFlakes (or indeed SharePoint web parts).  It is very much a beta, so I’m seeing some errors and rendering problems, but it’s definitely worth a look.

Have You Ever Enjoyed a Service Pack?

Posted by workerthread on December 12, 2007

The various RSS feeds I subscribe to were swamped this morning with posts telling me about the newly available service packs for Office 2007, SharePoint Server 2007, and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.  Many of them along the lines of:

The Services Packs are available – here are the links – Enjoy! or frequently Enjoy 🙂

Now I enjoy a lot of things in life, but I can honestly say I’ve never actively enjoyed a Service Pack.  So I decided not to post the same links here.  If you want to be a pioneer, I’m sure you will be able to find the downloads through a quick search.  Otherwise, keep watch here, and I will post something once I have had a chance to try them out.

Windows Service Pack Blocker Tool Kit

Posted by workerthread on December 11, 2007

I noticed that Microsoft have made a blocking tool available if you would like to temporarily prevent installation of Service Pack updates.  Specifically it allows you to temporarily prevent installation of:

  • Windows Server 2003 SP2
  • Windows XP SP 3
  • Windows Vista SP1

You can download the toolkit here.
