I see today that Microsoft has launched a free Accounting software package for the UK market, with options to upgrade to a more sophisticated retail version. Not the first time Microsoft has used this tactic, so I wonder if Sage will respond in any way?
There is quite a good report on the new release, called Office Accounting 2008, on Accounting Web here. Interesting to see screen shots of workflow-like tasks and Outlook integration. The Accounting web report says the download is available from msaccounting.co.uk but the link is actually http://www.msofficeaccounting.co.uk/ and the link to the free basic version download is here.
